This morning my mom and I woke up here, on the shore of Bastendorf Beach at Coos Head, after sleeping last night in her cozy little camper. We walked along the shore to the cove at the far end, collecting trash and plastic bits along the way. It was a negative tide, meaning the water was very low, its usually hidden inhabitants exposed for the morning viewing. Below you can meet a sand shrimp, starfish, crabs tucked into their hiding spaces, and sea anemones clinging to the rocky barnacle crusted edge. The morning was bright, warm and still. The perfect stroll along the beach.

The edge of the cove, and the perfect place to look for tide pools and rock wall inhabitants.

Starfish

Do you see the little crab tucked away up to the left of the starfish?

Sea Anemone all closed up. Looks like it’s about to drip pretty teal goo.

Seaweed clings to the wall like tinsel at Christmas.

Starfish, sea anemone and crabs. The orange starfish looks like it’s sitting on the big crab.
